Aeroscale Carburetor Filter kit - set of both the mount and the K&N Racing Filter

This one is NOT primarily here to keep dirt out of the engine.

It serves three other purposes:

a) and MOST importantly: during the 3 "non intake cycles" the air/oil mix will leave the carb mouth. A Walbro was not designed to be moved at 80 mph, this mix loss was not accounted for. Building a "stabilized" environment with zero wash at the carb mouth will eliminate all loss, will allow the carb to operate as intended, in return optimize transition, optimize fuel efficiency and eliminate intake side disturbances. 

b) traps possible fuel that would otherwise spill out during choke and startup - possibly behind your firewall and inside the airplane.

c) traps the fuel-oil mix, keeping the oil from misting all over the inside of your cowl or inside of your fuselage (RC equipment)

and then of course, it does keep the dirt out.
