Oil Catch Tank with Fitting & Cotton Rolls
A simple and effective addition for engines that discharge oil through a crankcase bleed or drain outlet, typically located on the rear of the crankcase.
Please note: This system is not intended for radial engines.
Oil discharged from the crankcase breather can leave the engine as a combination of liquid oil and oil vapor. Without a catch system, that residue will eventually collect inside the cowl or be discharged onto the exterior of the aircraft.
This catch tank connects directly to the engine's bleed or drain outlet using standard fuel tubing. Liquid oil is collected inside the tank, while the included cotton rolls absorb both the collected oil and oil carried in the crankcase vapor, helping keep the engine compartment and airframe considerably cleaner.
In our own use, a set of cotton rolls typically lasts approximately 50–100 flights before replacement. Servicing is simple: remove the used cotton rolls and replace them with fresh ones.
Installation is equally straightforward. Add a strip of hook-and-loop fastener (Velcro) to the outside of the bottle and mount the tank in a convenient location inside the aircraft.
