Udet Flamingo U 12

This CAD-designed, precision CNC-cut kit features an advanced tab-and-lock construction system that allows the components to align and fit together accurately. This approach significantly simplifies assembly, speeds up the building process, and provides a more precise and rewarding experience than traditional model aircraft construction methods.

The Ultimate Flying Jewel Case for Your Radial Engine!

The Flamingo became famous during the 1930s, primarily through the exceptional pilot Ernst Udet, who performed breathtaking aerobatic maneuvers with the aircraft. Thanks in no small part to the film Quax the Crash Pilot (Quax, der Bruchpilot), this beautiful biplane also became well known to a much wider audience.

The 1:3-scale model is an impressive sight at any model flying field. It is not only its imposing size that makes this aircraft so enjoyable—the Flamingo also offers excellent flight characteristics.

My Flamingo made its maiden flight in 2000. Since then, it has repeatedly proven itself to be a practical and dependable everyday flyer, even under challenging conditions such as crosswinds.

Recommended Powerplant

The ideal powerplant for this model is a Fiala FM 250 radial, optionally with starter

Despite its considerable size, the Flamingo remains reasonably easy to transport. In addition to the wings and tail assembly, the landing gear can also be removed quickly and easily.

The model is supplied in a ready-to-cover airframe stage. The fuselage is already sheeted with plywood, and the bracing system, made from 2 mm steel cable, is completely installed.

All control surfaces are fully functional and mounted using recessed hinge joints. The landing gear, including wheels, is prepared and ready for installation.
